Trains in India

There have been so many interesting journeys in trains,i always loved traveling in trains right from when i was a kid

Although air travel is now more affordable and convenient traveling in the train is a different experience altogether.

The journey starts as soon as one gets into the train, hawkers keep dropping in asking you for tea, coffee etc etc .There are a few stares here and there from your co-passengers who will most probably join you till your destination.

There is a strange camaraderie which builds in as the journey goes in.There are so many interesting things happening around. The like the fact when there is a major stop at a station,i love to get on to the platform and pick up something to eat.

Another interesting thing is one can see the daily life which hinges on the railways.School children ,office goers hop in and hop out for a decent journey of anywhere between 30min to 1 hour.It is so very pleasant to see the countryside ,the hills ,the cows ,the people waiting patiently at the crossing, small kids waving at the passengers. and as the day goes by one can see farmers ploughing their lands.

I just love the eternal and the incessant sound of the rails and the tracks. So many distant lands ,distant people ,distant memories come back.

I hope i can find sometime soon and can travel once again, its been a while since i travelled by train :).

Sometimes we try just too hard.....

There have been so many times when one gets overwhelmed by the situation at hand. The solution to a tough situation need not be tough and vice versa.

Just to give an live example of what i mean

I wanted to add my favourite bloggers to my list.Hence i asked my fellow blogger as to how do i do it.She gave me n steps and told me to go ahead and do it ,the first 2 steps being

(a)Click on CUSTOMIZE(on the top right side of the main page)
(b)Click on ADD A PAGE ELEMENT

I did the first step and then was frantically looking for the PAGE ELEMENT,but could not find it .After some R&D,i found that i would need to edit an xml ,but to no avail.then i realized that i need to port to a new theme and then i would see the option that Nancy was quoting.huffff .pufffff

I thought i am just steps aways and went ahead and added the link but to my dismay the link wouldnt resolve and said "Website not found".I was like whats wrong now.she asked me to copy and paste her link and i was doing the same thing,i did the same steps and again i would endup at the same state .

Then i just sat back and saw the error message and again did some R&D,being a s/w engg myself :).i soon realized that Nancy had missed a "." in the .com and i fixed it .Again i hurried off to check my link but this time i didnt name the link so i could see it .Huff puff huff pufff

I fixed this as i named the link Nancy and lo behold i saw my favourite bloggers list ..

Sometimes in life people get caught in the web and dont think as to what they are doing and may loose the charm of life or to come out of a situation, hence dont hurry there are smalll things one needs to pick up ,in that sense then we dont always have to blame a situation..As i always say it is not the situation which makes a man ,it is how he handles it .

Stay hungry stay foolish

I have always learnt from my past ,atleast on more than 2 occasions that whatever happens for the good, there are times when one feels totally helpless, but only time will tell you that there was a lesson to be learnt from it .

I believe in destiny and in GOD,when one thinks that everything is going to end ,suddenly things turnaround as weirdly as had turnaround for the bad in the first place ,so just hang in there.

Catch Steve Jobs in a motivational speech here, which i spotted and i want to share it with you all it is just mind blowing, awesome. Please be patient, the 15 min video will change the way you think from now on....

KSRTC and BMTC

KSRTC and BMTC are one of the best run transport services in the country.KSRTC made a profit of 27 crores for the 2007 financial year, that is something amazing according to me

BMTC on the other hand which was always running into losses is on the anvil of posting a profit of around 190 crores, that is simply mind blowing

check out this link, http://www.hindu.com/2007/02/10/stories/2007021008030400.htm

I have always been a fan of the this transport organisation. They were one of the first to launch volvo for inter/intra state as well as for the city.Although they are doing well, they cant just sit and roll over their profits, they need to keep on improving.

Recently my dad was on a Rajahamsa bus to Mlore and apparently the bus broke down at arnd 2 am,it was a small screw of the gear which has apparently fallen off,he entered the chennaraypatna bus station. There is a mechanical supervisor at that place, but apparently he wont fix the thing since the bus doesnt belong to that depot.:( that is strange ,the driver finally travelled to a nearby depot where he is authorised and given the screw, the supervisor finally fixes it for the driver. This really pisses me off.

NOTE : The luxury bus driver was given the option of taking a red bus -ordinary one but apparently the driver thought otherwise since the passengers would be inconvinienced for the small issue.

If KSRTC wants to become a world leader ,it needs to plug such small red tapism issues.Make no mistake even by this incident it is better than all the other transport organizations who just dump the bus in the middle of the night.

Cheers

Rains in South India

Well i thought the pre monsoon showers was a welcome change and made the weather pleasant.Well hold on a moment

The weather in the last week has damaged crops worth crores in Karnataka,Kerala,TN and AP.It is really sad that so much of effort to grow these crops has gone down the drain.Well i hope things come under control soon.

The past 2 days have been an absolute joy to wake up to .I just love the rainy season and to expect the rain so early is surprising.I agree it is only pre-monsoon showers

Well the plane has hit some air pockets and there is some turbulence in the air.All passengers please fasten your seat belts. We will keep you all informed .We hope to steer clear of this turbulence in a short while.thank you

Now descending to 15,000 feet, first officer do you copy any new data from the ATC.

Appreciate Life as it is...

The past few months have taught be a lot of things. There is always this feeling that i am not doing enough to lead a normal life.A lot of things are crossing my mind in the last few months which have got me thinking.

Life can be cruel to you in many ways ,one has to accept the way life is.My uncle has a famous one liner which is very apt for the situation "Life goes on!! ".There are a lot of things that one has to learn from life and learn each day.

There is not one moment when you can relax and be rest assured that life is on track and dont track it.Foe eg in a recent article in a leading newspaper showed how life changed for a software engineer,so one never one what curves exist in store for us,anything can happen anytime.

A lot of people might think that this is an eccentric or a pessimistic way of looking at life, but believe me if you haven't yet experienced ,you are on your way in experiencing it .

Living Life....

Whenever i start on a journey to achieve something it has almost been impossible to start. But then i somehow managed to start and try to give a good shape to the task that i have started out with.I am talking in general about personal aims and goals..

There has always been that one force that makes me do things which were beyond my reach until that point of time. The force is none other than "GOD".While i always wonder why life is such a roller coaster where some people have more ups than downs and some people have more downs than ups.I have always believed in the fact called "KARMA".God has somewhere somehow helped me achieve my dreams in whatever small means that i have started off with.

It is strange that things don't turn out the way one would really like to but that is the way life is,it depends on the way you see things in perspective. Some people complain that their life has been ruined because of "X" thing having occurred and they have been unlucky.

Well I cant advice and will not until my oldage :) ,from my personal experience you only get what you sow.Sometimes i feel people just get away with things that they do and find excuses to pull people down.Well somebody is always watching us and each and every step that we are stepping on or attempting to.Life becomes a mystery each time you thing you have things in control...that is the strangest thing of life.

But i am not complaining ,if you have to be in this world ,you will have to fight for your right to live. There are some things one cant blame anybody with or cant reason as to why such things happen. That is the absurdity of life, until the next time i find time ,this is Sukhoi signing off

The Rainy season is here :)

There are finally been some respite in terms of a professional career where i have changed my team which was a much needed break that i have yearned for.

Last week had been to a holiday at a game sanctuary and it was a amazing experience to say the least.Nothing gives me more fun than burning the rubber on the highways. It was a welcome break in all senses.

The rainy season has started of in Southern India and it is great to see my favourite season.Come this weekend and i would cosy up in my bed to enjoy a good sleep which is what i love to do when i am not doing anything else.

On a professional front there is no time to waste and the dearth for knowledge in the field should far surpass anything else .The house seems empty after the sad demise of Softy ,one of the souls of our house and family. We truly miss him.Every moment he was around was a sheer joy.Be it his stubbornness when he wanted something or his eternal love for all the family members. He knew exactly what a particular family member was fond of and in contrast knew what exactly a particular family member could get him.

Having grown up right alongside our teenage years ,he had pretty much seen us through his lens and we he was in every sense a complete family member.

It was our very first dog and i am glad he had a very good time with us.I have personally learnt quite a lot from my dog ,his silence ,his sense of discipline and lots of interesting stuff.

I am at a great loss of words to describe the void left behind by my dog .

The Irony of life

I came in to work on a a Saturday morning,it is kind of strange when you see nobody around and you are all alone at work .But I really dont mind the silence.

I was breaking my head to solve the automation code i had in front of me ,by the time i realised it was about 12 pm and i ordered some lunch for myself. As usual i was musing over where am i heading for in future and all a lot of other stuff that usually is on the back of my mind

As i was just about to sit for my lunch ,this scenario happened in front of me.The young boy of about 18 years was wiping the granite slab right near the window.I was a few feet away and i was observing him.His attention was dragged towards the plane which was taking off.His eyes said it all.He was staring at it .Right in front of it i could see the labourers in the tents having their lunch .The young boy wanted to watch the plane till the very end ,he bent his neck so much so that he could no longer see the plane anymore.I could see the plane as it passed by, i could see the reflection right across my plate on the gleaming granite slab.

Well to be frank i thank "GOD" ,that i am one of the lucky guys who doesnt have to think about where my next meal would come from .I guess there was a encrypted message in the whole thing for me.

The angel in disguise:

My dog has turned 14 years.I would rather call it one among us.I remember the first day when it came to my place,it was very apprehensive. He was about 3 months or something. We brought in a butti :) [carry bag] to my place in salem from bangalore.

We had just been transferred from bangalore to salem and it was a great feeling to have a dog.I am glad that i can say that my dog has survived 14 long years and still going strong.I remember in the earlier days when i used to get up early and take him for a walk. There i s a quote which says that "like master like dog".In our case it was true..He was highly short tempered, although it is tapering now.Poms are known to be moody and boy wasnt he moody.Lashing out at anybody except my dad from whom he has been at the receiving ends at more than one occasion

I remember once in his early days he did something drastically wrong,i dont remember exactly what for which he received one hell of a trashing ,he couldnt walk properly for a couple of days.I was almost in tears for him.

He will welcome you and he can sense your mood in a jiffy. He is remarkable in this sense. He likes to play around the house and with us.Get on us and just do whatever he wants.he can get really notorious once he is in a playful mood.

There were some days in my life when i had nobody to turn to in my life and he used to comfort me.I used to pour out myself in front of him and he would patiently listen to me.There were days when he wasnt happy after i talked to him(i still keep wondering how on earth could he decipher what i was telling him even to this day).

He is a strickler for his health. If he has a stomach upset he wont eat anything for almost 3 days until things are set right. He maintains it even to this day.Mom always says "see how well softy recovers from his indigestion."He is a genius in this sense.

There was this funny incident which i always tell people. It was the middle of summer and all of us including him were sleeping in the hall.We were watching a movie and he was sleeping under the fan.We were all sleepy so we decided to move to our living rooms and we switched of the fan.Softy(his name ) got up almost instantly and gave us a stare. He didnt like us switching off the fan and he followed my into my room and slept again only after i had switched on the fan. :)

Well all i can say is he is one gem of a boy. :) .He has grown up with me ,so he will always have a special place in my heart.Mind you there are people who want pups, that is when they look cute .Nobody wants a old dog.My call is just that he has been with us through the thick and thin and he will be with us till the very last.He has grown old and he is no more the jovial dog he used to be.But thats the way it is .Touchwood he has been remarkably healthy and continues to be with no major illness. With the hope that he will be with us for many more years to come.....

The NAKED TRUTH .......

Whenever i sit down to look back in the past in the mirror, there have been too many close shaves. It is pretty difficult to say that i am lucky :)

So whether it was my Bachelors degree where i was on the brink of losing a year or in the inummerable situations i have ended up on a personal note. But i am happy that i have survived the storm to struggle for another day .

Life has been a great teacher teaching me a lot of things ,I am not complaining at all. Each day is a surprise,so I no more expect anything ,that way I am sitting on the cliff each day .In a way there is a sense of satisfaction when i turn around to see what i have achieved, each time whatever the situation i have been pushed to the limits and i have survived each time ,only by GODS GRACE.The funniest part is nobody has been around when the dark clouds start forming .The confidence is good since i know all the while I have been tackling the situation with GODS GRACE.so touchwood I am glad i have ended up on th winning side most of the times .

So when i sit on the benches of Lalbagh I keep wondering what pushes me whenever there is a crisis ,i have been in so many that i have lost count of them :).Maybe i am just made for it .With the hope of facing new crisis in the very near future this is Wingcomm Sukhoi signing off :)

How do police work in INDIA ?
There was this funny incident wherein an idiot who was driving an activa looking behind and driving hit my car.
He started asking me why i ran into him and I was like lets go to the police station coz i know it was you who hit me.Like a loser the idiot ran with his vehicle. Now comes the interesting part.I wanted to be on the safer side and went to the police station .As usual the beating around bush ,he said that that area is not in our jusrisdiction, blah blah

Finally since i insisted the inspector sent a constable asking me to show the spot .He(Constable) made some skecthes .He told me that there is a police station very near by .So we went there and this is where it all happens . :)

The police who is an idiot with 3 stars is not even fit to be a watchman. The reply he gave was "ONLY THE FOOTPATH BELONGS TO US,THE ROAD BELONGS TO A 3RD POLICE STATION.This can happen only in India. So the next time you enter a police station to lodge a complaint beware :)

DOES TRUTH PAY YOU???

The journey of truth is one which has umpteen hurdles.Somewhere down the lane there is a feeling inside you whether it is worth the pain that it gives.....

It was early summer of 2005 when the hectic activities of placements started in our college.Suddenly everybody is scrambling just like a airforce base when there is a blitzkreig. Finally the D-DAY arrives. All strategies worked out,a day one dream company just rolls a rozy picture for the scrambling amateurs if you may call them to be.DISASTER STRIKES.....The first list is out and my name doesnt seem to be in it.Beleive it or not a bengali ill mannered out of shape illiterate bullshitting DAME with 6 backs and a failure in C-yes the most basic attribute for any IT -guy's inherent logic is selected.i congratulate the company which has picked here.Last i heard was the TL in the company is falling at her feet to get some work done.Well then the real story starts pouring in like the baaz which hit chennai.

These dames and a few people had the audacity to copy in the recruitment of their first company in life.Everybody selected is showing that they are one up above us.I always bow my head to somebody who has more knowledge or is more capable than me,it is not that the grapes are sour. Then the same streak continues with morality being thrown to winds.

All the while i was in the centre of this cyclone literally seeing the fortune change in just a couple of months.By late february the wounds grow deeper and thicker.Suddenly there is a fear factor setting in whether you will eventually get placed? Then there are these obvious questions on the family front wherein they also start to feel that maybe my son is just not good enough.

Eventually i rummage from the muck in the dustbin and got what i thought was a piece of **** which evntually turned out to be wrong. Now i go up to this placement officer in his cabin and politely ask him are there any more oppurtunities coming on my plate.

Maybe he doesnt know who he is or where he has come from- a PERFECT nin·com·poop who is literally playing with lives. He tells me that BEGGARS CANT BE CHOOSERS and that when i am incapable of getting placed ,i must not come to him. This is where i thought and probably you will also think the story ends.

This is where it starts.I was really distraught with myself for my plans going awry ,I just couldnt sleep properly for months.I guess in the end you start questioning yourself whether you did the right thing.I try to put things behind me after plenty of procrastination and lying in the dust-bin.I finally got into a small company -touchwood was the best i could have asked for at that moment.Although they were paying me a pittance ,i loved my job and it was really great to work there.Exams round the corner and everybody starts getting busy with the exams.By this time even the idiots and the most foolish guys in the college are advising me .We have this damsel who got selected on day with 6 backs ,comes to me and literally staring at me and says "you still havent been placed?".Well i just had no answers.

By the end of the exam i was down and out ,i was to go back home.My dad and mom were now concerned, literally seeing classmates and they beleived i was not putting in my best, any parent would have done that ,pretty natural. They by now realised that everything was over ,even i belevied so .all the while in my 2 months i was making plans on how to go about the mess i have been in the past.I came back on a sunday morning and mom told me that my grand mom is in town ,blah blah.I wouldnt have met either way but somehow that day i met her.My uncle asked me what i was doing ,i gave him a rozy picture of the whole thing. He asked me if i would like to work for a MNC ,we would get me a referral, nothing more than that.

Then things clicked after the nth round i was finally made the offer and here i was by the grace of GOD.in my own backyard killing all my opposition and raising from the dust literally.

Well what can i say ,truth will prevail.even if you are put in the dustbin one day the next day you may be the king provided you beleive in what you are going to be,be thruthful at heart and work towards your goal

Cheers
